Introduction                       :-

 

                      The rapid development of wireless technologies resulted in increasing the user base of wireless applications and services. GSM and CDMA technologies have contributed in a major way for this increase in the usage of wireless telecom services. For everybody associated with Telecom industry, the knowledge of the wireless based technologies is a must and this course is attempting to take care of this need. This course provides insight into the working of GSM and CDMA technologies. Basic concepts related to the working of the wireless systems are covered first followed by overview of GSM, CDMA, GPRS, UMTS, WCDMA, GMPCS and Wireless Data Networks. A field visit to the actual working system is also included to provide better understanding of the technologies.

On completion of this course the participant will be able to -

 

                  ● Explain the principles of cellular radio systems

                  ● Understand the principles of radio propagation and microwave transmission

                  ● Describe features and operation of GSM systems

                  ● Describe the architecture of a CDMA wireless system

                  ● Describe CDMA power control, structure of CDMA signaling channels and call processing.

                  ● Explain the working of GPRS

                  ● Describe the UMTS and Wireless Data Network technologies.
